PCEA Complaints Policy (Privately Commissioned Work)

Privately Commissioned Work

Last updated: 2/9/2022

The Psychology Clinic of East Anglia Ltd (PCEA) provides psychological services, such as psychological assessments and interventions for families and individuals. The policies set out in this document relate specifically to services directly commissioned by individuals and members of the public.

At PCEA we are committed to providing the highest standards of support and service to ensure that the instructed Psychologist’s work is facilitated professionally, and all are treated fairly and with courtesy in any dealings with our organisation. We are also committed to ensuring that all the Psychologists who carry out services commissioned directly through us do so to the highest professional standards.

Should any individual who has commissioned a service through PCEA believe that we have fallen below the expected standards then a complaint can be raised via email to the Managing Director, Dr Stewart Long who will look to provide an initial response within 1 week. We will consider any complaints and attempt to find a solution and/or take on board comments to improve future performance. If our initial response is not considered satisfactory by the complainant then, if appropriate, a more in-depth investigation will be carried out which may take up to 28 days. The complainant will be kept abreast of this process regularly.

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, please refer to our Privacy Notice, which is available on request, for details of our data protection policies and how to make a complaint in that regard.

If a complaint is specifically in regard to the professional conduct or work of the Psychologist who carried out the commissioned service, we will raise your concerns with them, provide a response as above and attempt to find a satisfactory solution or remedy to your concerns.

Please note that Practitioner Psychologists carrying out work through PCEA are individually regulated by their professional body (HCPC) and are subject to codes of conduct and professional standards as follows (individual membership details are available on request):

Health & Care Professionals Council – https://www.hcpc-uk.org/standards/.

If we cannot address a complaint about an individual Practitioner Psychologist’s professional conduct to your satisfaction, formal complaints in regard to Psychologists’ professional conduct can be made via their professional body (HCPC – https://www.hcpc-uk.org/).

Some technical aspects of commissioned work may be carried out by Assistant Psychologists or other non-regulated Psychologist grades but in all such instances such work will be overseen by a Practitioner Psychologist who will hold responsibility for the work and who will be subject to professional body regulation, as set out above. Some specific kinds of work may be carried out in collaboration with other professionals, such as Speech and Language Therapists, as per the Order and Service Description. In such cases, details of their regulatory bodies are available on request.
