Dr Hardiman is an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist, Consultant Counselling Psychologist, Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. As a clinical director of The Psychology Clinic of East Anglia, he provides expert witness services to courts and professionals. He has completed several hundred full psychological assessments as an expert witness and given evidence in person in both family and criminal courts on many occasions.
His practice is focused on the following areas of family court work:
- The assessment of high conflict post separation parenting, including issues of contact resistance, domestic violence, and allegations of parental alienation.
- Working with parents, children and families involved in public law child protection proceedings or pre-proceedings.
- Undertaking a range of specialist assessments, including cognitive, capacity and autism diagnosis assessments.
His general areas of expertise cover the assessment of psychological functioning in adults, families, and children of all ages. He has specific expertise in assessing family dynamics, including the creation and maintenance of problematic patterns of family functioning and the impact of individual psychological functioning on families. He has experience in both working with and understanding the impact on families and on parenting in relation to the following areas of difficulty:
High conflict post separation parenting, parental alienation, contact refusal or resistance in children, fabricated/ induced illness, domestic violence, abuse within relationships, controlling and coercive behaviour, substance misuse (drugs and/ or alcohol), mental health difficulties, neglect, early childhood trauma and abuse, neurodiversity.
Dr Cassie Jackson

Dr Cassie Jackson is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with expertise as an expert witness in Child Protection. She also specialises in paediatric neuropsychology and neurodevelopmental disorders including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Dr Jackson is an HCPC registered practitioner psychologist and has chartered membership with the British Psychological Society, for whom she is also an Associate Fellow. She holds a post-doctoral diploma in Paediatric Neuropsychology.
In addition to being clinical director at PCEA and clinical lead for our neurodevelopmental service, Dr Jackson also holds a part-time role with the Surrey FASD Clinic. She is a member of the National FASD Experts Committee, working closely with the National Organisation for FASD, FASD Southwest, FASD UK Alliance and other affiliated organisations.
Dr Jackson also has significant expertise in the psychological assessment of adults, families and children of all ages for the family courts. This includes providing an understanding of often complex dynamics which may be maintaining poor functioning within family systems, including parental capacity for change. Dr Jackson has extensive experience in receiving instructions with the following areas of difficulty:
- Fabricated/ induced illness, domestic violence, abuse within relationships, controlling and coercive behaviour, substance misuse (drugs and/or alcohol), mental health difficulties, neglect, early childhood trauma and abuse, non-accidental injury and neurodiversity.
Dr Jackson also has almost twenty years of experience in assessing for a range of neurodevelopmental conditions and advising on best support and management following diagnosis. She has specific expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
Dr Maria-Teresa Martinez-Cengotitabengoa

Dr Martinez is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Dr Martinez is a leading expert in Child and Family assessments for the Courts and Local Authorities, with over twenty years’ experience working on many hundreds of cases including the most complex and high profile cases. She has extensive experience of preparing expert reports for the Family Courts and defending them in court hearings. She has also published materials in the area of psychological treatment of mental health problems.
Dr Martinez has extensive experience in assessing adults and children in terms of their psychological wellbeing, cognitive and developmental issues. This includes the assessment of mental health problems, parenting capacity and related issues, cognitive functioning in adults and children, neglect and abuse, psychological effects of trauma, attachment and its emotional implications, risk, capacity for change, as well as neurodevelopmental conditions and traits.
As a Practitioner Psychologist and Clinical Psychologist she is registered with and regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adheres to the standards for conduct, performance and ethics set out by the HCPC.

Ms Sarah Foley

Ms Foley is a chartered clinical psychologist and is also qualified as a family and systemic therapist.
Ms Foley has over thirty years of experience and has worked within both adult and child mental health settings within the NHS.
Ms Foley has also worked within social care settings, where her roles predominantly focussed on working with young people with forensic presentations. Ms Foley has always enjoyed assessment and formulation and trying to bring a systemic perspective to the issues which clients present with.
Ms Foley has worked within the family courts over the past four years and continues to undertake training to improve her assessment and formulation skills, particularly in complex presentations.
Dr Helen Upright

Dr Helen Upright is a doctor in Clinical Psychology and registered with the HCPC. After qualifying she worked within the NHS with children and families providing parenting expertise, direct therapeutic input with children and families and consultation to other health professionals.
After a number of years she then moved to work with children and families within social care and more recently has moved to the private sector to work across the age span.
She has extensive experience in assessing adults and children in terms of psychological wellbeing, cognitive and developmental issues. These experiences include assessment of mental health problems, parenting capacity and related issues, cognitive functioning in adults and children, neglect and abuse, psychological effects of trauma, attachment and its emotional implications and capacity for change.
She also has many years of experience of providing therapeutic input to children, families and adults. Her main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and she specializes in the areas of trauma and attachment. She also has experience in the preparation of assessments for Court Proceedings. Dr Upright has also published materials in the area of behaviour management and attachment.
Dr Yetunde Ade-Serrano

Dr Ade-Serrano works as an Expert Witness in the Family Courts conducting psychological assessments of parents. Her instructions have focused on cases where there are concerns regarding parental capacity and the safety of children. She has undertaken the Cardiff University Bond Solon course in Family and Criminal Procedures as part of her training in equipping her with the necessary skills in the expert witness arena.
Dr Ade-Serrano is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a chartered Counselling Psychologist. She is a registered Practitioner Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Ade-Serrano has experience working in the NHS, Prison Service, Schools, Independent and Voluntary sectors across the life span spanning a fourteen-year period post her doctoral qualification. She has worked with numerous psychological presentations, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma presentations, intimate and interpersonal relationship difficulties, parenting difficulties, domestic abuse, self-harm, low mood, bereavement, and suicide ideation.
Dr Ade-Serrano’s key areas of work are anxiety, depression, attachment presentations, cultural diversity, intimate partner violence, neglect, self-harm, trauma and trauma responses, relationship difficulties, suicidal ideation, and substance misuse.
Dr Ade-Serrano currently works primarily in independent practice as well as supervising the pastoral team in a school setting. Additional she works with frontline staff in a homeless organisation. Other recent relevant experience includes her work in a forensic in-patient service as the lead psychologist and head of psychological services. Dr Ade-Serrano’s clinical interests include self-exploration and growth, black women’s identity, African Psychology and Spirituality, individual and community meaning-making processes and the implications of these on behaviours.
Dr Louisa Barnett

Dr Louisa Barnett is a Clinical Psychologist with HCPC registration. She has expertise in working with adults and children with Learning Disabilities, Autism, mental health difficulties, and complex behaviours.
She has worked in a range of settings including the community, educational settings, and inpatient settings, across statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
With nineteen years’ experience working in the National Health Service, Dr Barnett has been working as an associate with the Psychology Clinic of East Anglia for seven years.
Dr Barnett has particular expertise in carrying out complex cognitive and mental capacity assessments around issues relating to possible cognitive impairment and complex decision making. Dr Barnett is qualified in carrying out autism diagnostic assessments.
Dr Barnett has additional training in Positive Behaviour Support, and carrying out functional assessments across settings to develop understanding and train stakeholders in delivering the optimum quality of life focussed support to individuals with complex behaviours that challenge.
Ms Fiona Paton

Fiona Paton is a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered by the British Psychological Society.
She has extensive clinical experience of more than twenty years within the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Much of her work has been in offering psychological therapy for a wide range of client difficulties. She also has a range of experience offering cognitive, capacity and full psychological assessments within the child protection field. She has been working part-time for PCEA since 2022.
Mr Scott Slatter

Scott is a member of the British Psychological Society and works as an Assistant Psychologist for the NHS and through the Psychology Clinic of East Anglia as an Independent Psychologist under the supervision of Dr Mark Hardiman, Chartered Counselling Psychologist.
Scott has over fifteen years’ experience assessing adults and children in terms of their mental health and cognitive functioning. Scott also has extensive experience completing risk assessments and providing therapy to adults and adolescents in the forensic population.
As a member of the British Psychological Society, he adheres to their professional guidelines and recommendations for practice and for continuing professional development.

Dr Jamie Durrance

Dr Jamie Durrance-Clarke is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over twenty years’ experience working within adult mental health in both private and NHS Settings.
During her early career she worked within forensic services inpatient units before moving to adult acute mental health services in Norwich in 2012. This service incorporates both adult inpatient wards as well as a large crisis home treatment team.
Her areas of expertise are in working with those who present with complex emotional needs that are usually the consequence of childhood trauma, adversity or neglect, which include those who have a diagnosis of personality disorder and/or severe mental illnesses such as psychosis and bipolar.
She is highly skilled at consulting and working alongside teams to help manage those who present with a high degree of risk of harm to themselves and/or others and regularly provides teaching, as well as contributions to complex cases, guidelines, and policies across the trust.
Dr Durrance-Clarke is trained in several psychological therapies, including a diploma in cognitive analytic therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy (EMDR) and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), leading a consult of therapists in providing the full DBT therapy to outpatients. She is also trained in specific diagnostic assessments that include the International Personality Disorder Examination (IPDE), Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R) and the Adult Autism Assessment (AAA).
More recently Dr Durrance-Clarke has completed a PG certificate in Mental Health Law and has completed the portfolio to become registered as a Multi-Professional Approved Clinician enabling Responsible Clinician status for those who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Alongside her NHS work, Dr Durrance-Clarke works regularly with the Psychology Clinic providing independent clinical, neuropsychological and risk assessments for adults.
